ARSENE WENGER has dropped a clear hint that Gabriel Paulista could make his Gunners debut this weekend.

Paulista signed for Arsenal in an £11.3m deal this week after getting his work permit approved.

The Brazilian centre half has been handed the squad number five, and he could take his bow against Aston Villa on Sunday (1:30pm), as Laurent Koscielny is struggling with an achilles problem.

"Gabriel is available and we’ll check him how he is physically but he should be alright to be available," Wenger said.

"He has good pace, he’s good in the challenge and he’s tall - so he can adapt to English football.”

The Daily Mirror claims Paulista will go straight into the Gunners squad and is in contention to be named in Wenger's starting XI.

Meanwhile, it is thought top scorer Alexis Sanchez is a concern as he is carrying a hamstring injury.
