Arsene Wenger reveals Theo Walcott training ground tests ahead of Norwich clash

Arsene Wenger hopes Theo Walcott will be fit enough for a place on the bench v Norwich on Sunday

Walcott has not played since October after limping off in a 3-0 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday in the Capital One Cup.

Seven goals in 15 games before that suggests the England man has adapted to his new central role well and will now offer competition again for Olivier Giroud in attack.

“Walcott goes through a few tests and steps but the first one was successful,” Wenger said. “He started running again on Tuesday morning and had no reaction. He has no big hurdle to get across today and hopefully he will be successful.”

Wenger also hopes Alexis Sanchez and Joel Campbell will be fine after their respective scares this week.

“Spontaneously it might not be the best moment to rest Alexis but I don’t know.

“He had a little hamstring alarm but we will see how he recovers from that. Joel Campbell had a little calf problem so I will assess all that Friday, latest Saturday.”
