Top Gunner Walcott Shoots Down Estonia

HE MAY not have started against Estonia in his preferred striking role but Theo Walcott continued his fine form in front of goal to give England boss Roy Hodgson a difficult conundrum as Lithuania wait in the wings.

In the match day programme Roy Hodgson believed Harry Kane was in “pole position” to succeed injured striker Wayne Rooney as their main marksman, however it is Walcott who is now in the driving seat to overtake his chances of doing so.

What more does the Arsenal striker need to prove? Despite the announcer declaring Ross Barkley as the man of the match, there was no doubting the rightful identity of England’s man of the moment.

Walcott has enjoyed a remarkable week, stretching back to his captivating performance against Manchester United. This was hardly a vintage performance from England, but the Arsenal striker will deservedly take all the plaudits. And Raheem Sterling scored at the end to cap off a comfortable performance from Hodgson’s men.
