Ronald de Boer believes on-loan Arsenal forward Yaya Sanogo does not have the quality to play for Ajax.

The club's youth academy assistant coach is also the brother of first-team manager Frank de Boer, but he has questioned why his sibling has brought the former France under-21 international to the club.

He said: "I heard Frank say last week that this is one of the best squads with whom he has ever worked. However, when I see Sanogo, I still have my doubts.

"I have still found no qualities with which you can do something."

The 22-year-old scored a hat-trick in his first start for the Amsterdam club in a behind-closed-doors game against Qatari side Umm Salal on Monday but, despite this, de Boer believes last season's Eredivisie runners up will be easy to defend against this term.

Ajax have endured a difficult start to the campaign after being knocked out of the Champions League by Rapid Vienna in the third qualifying round, although they did win their first match of the new league season against AZ Alkmaar on Sunday...
