Giroud should score 25 goals a season with Ozil in team says Alan Shearer

Arsenal go into the new year as Premier League leaders following their 2-0 win over Bournemouth on Tuesday 28 December.

Mesut Özil provided his 16th league assist of the season and scored his fifth goal against the newly promoted side.

Former Newcastle United striker and football pundit Alan Shearer was full of praise for Özil after the game and revealed that he would have loved to played with the World Cup winner.

Shearer also stated that any Arsenal striker especially Olivier Giroud should be able to score at least a minimum of 25 goals per-season with Özil in the team.

Speaking on the BBC football show Match of the Day Shearer said: “Any striker particularly Giroud in this Arsenal team should be getting a minimum 25 league goals with the amount of chances he creates.”

Özil has provided more assists than any other player in the league and could have had a few more against Bournemouth as he did create nine goal scoring opportunities in total most of which were missed by Theo Walcott and Giroud.

Giroud has 15 goals in total this season while Walcott has five and Joel Campbell has hit the back of the net twice in all
