‘I’m very excited’ Arsenal cult hero reveals coaching role at Emirates

Freddie Ljungberg is returning to Arsenal to coach the club’s Under-15s, the Swede has revealed.

The 38-year-old was a popular figure amongst Arsenal fans and played a key role in the ‘Invinsibles’ season during his nine-year stay under Arsene Wenger.

He went on to play for the likes of West Ham, Seattle Sounders and Celtic and won over 70 caps for Sweden during a memorable career.

And on Thursday afternoon he announced on Twitter that he will be heading to London next week to coach the gunners Under-15 side.

“Hope everyone had a happy new year,” he tweeded. “Enjoying my last week in #CapeTown before I go home to coach Arsenals u-15! V excited :-)”

Arsenal have yet to comment on what Ljungberg’s official title will be or what role he will play.

But the Gunners do not currently have an Under-15s head coach listed on their official website but do for the 13s, 14s, 16s and 18s, suggesting he will be taking that role.
