Krystian Bielik Confirms He Is Set to Join Arsenal ‘Soon’

17-year old defensive midfielder Krystian Bielik has confirmed he has accepted a transfer to Arsenal and is only waiting on the Gunners to agree a fee with Legia Warsaw before the deal goes ahead. Arsène Wenger’s side have been in negotiations with the Polish Ekstraklasa side in recent weeks after he impressed the Premier League side’s scouts.

While Arsenal have seen their opening bid of £1.6 million rejected by Legia, experts expect the two clubs to settle on a few in the near future.  Sky sources believe the Polish side want a fee in the region of £2.3m.

The Metro has quoted the teenager as saying a transfer to North London is almost complete:

“I’ve made a decision [to join Arsenal] and I’m not going to change it. “I am looking forward to an agreement between the heads of the clubs. I realise that the negotiations may take some time. “I am, however, confident it will happen soon.” Krystian Bielik is in his first season with Legia Warsaw following a £9,500 move in the summer.

His recent performances in the first-team have prompted the Gunners boss to make a move for the youngster before both his value rises and his interest spreads. Should Bielik sign for Arsenal this month, he would not be expected to go into the first-team straight away, but rather train with the reserve team initially.

Therefore, this does not solve Arsenal’s crisis in the holding midfield position that fans have been crying out for an upgrade for some time now. Francis Coquelin is the latest player to be tried in that position following injuries to Mikel Arteta, Mathieu Flamini and Aaron Ramsey in recent weeks.

Over the summer, Arsenal had been linked with both Southampton’s Morgan Schneiderlin and Sporting Club’s William Carvalho but were seemingly priced out on both occasions.
