Borussia Dortmund will listen to offers for Manchester United and Arsenal midfield target Ilkay Gundogan

Borussia Dortmund will listen to offers from Manchester United and Arsenal for Ilkay Gundogan after he refused to discuss a new contract.

The Germany international has one year left on his current deal and Dortmund will sell rather than lose him for nothing. Chelsea and Bayern Munich have also been credited with interest in the 24-year-old midfielder.

United like Gundogan and his teammate Mats Hummels but have yet to make an opening bid. Despite a spate of injuries, Gundogan has played 26 times for Dortmund this season.

Dortmund confirmed on their official Twitter feed on Thursday that Gundogan 'has decided not to renew his contract'.

Gundogan joined Dortmund in 2011 from Nurnberg for around £4m. He won the Bundesliga and German Cup in his first season before reaching the Champions League final in his second.

The midfielder scored a penalty in the German Cup semi-final shootout win over Bayern at the weekend but the final looks set to be his last game at the club.

United are looking for a world-class midfielder to compete with the likes of Michael Carrick, Ander Herrera, Marouane Fellaini and Daley Blind.
