Arsene Wenger believes defender Gabriel Paulista can make a huge difference to Arsenal next season.

The Brazilian joined the Gunners in January from Spanish club Villarreal but has struggled to make impact so far, with the more experienced duo of Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny often preferred in the back four.

Gabriel's inability to speak English on his arrival did cause some concern but with his grasp of the language improving all the time, he is certain to get more opportunities to shine.

It has been another solid season for the north Londoners, finishing third in the Premier League, while also retaining the FA Cup courtesy of a 4-0 win over Aston Villa in last month's final.

Wenger himself has already said he wants to have a more sustained run at the title next season and believes the January arrival could well play a huge part in his side's push.

"I believe Gabriel will be a revelation," he told the club's official website. "I am convinced he will be a top player and we'll see more of him next season." ..
