FRANCIS COQUELIN has hit out at Arsenal legend Thierry Henry over his criticism of Olivier Giroud.

The Gunners' record goal-scorer slammed the Frenchman after the north Londoners' 0-0 draw with Chelsea on Sunday and claimed his former side needed 'a top, top-quality striker' to win the Premier League.

Coquelin doesn't agree with Henry's assessment of the team and claims Giroud - who has found the back of the net 18 times this season - can fire the Gunners to titles.

The French midfielder, who was on loan at Charlton for the first-half of the season, told RMC: "Thierry Henry is wrong. Giroud shows his potential every week.

“He showed that he has the level to be the Arsenal striker, and we can win titles with him.

"We are disappointed with the result against Chelsea because we were on a good run.

“Now the target is to focus on the end of the championship, win all the remaining matches to get this second place, and of course win the FA Cup final.”
