Mathieu Flamini has reportedly been told that he is free to leave Arsenal this summer after falling down the pecking order at the club.

The 31-year-old returned to the Gunners on a three-year contract in 2013 from AC Milan after first playing for the club between 2004 and 2008.

However, his contract expires next summer and Goalreport that he has been told that he can look for a move away from the club during the current transfer window as he is no longer in Arsene Wenger's plans.

The website goes on to claim that the French midfielder has told Arsenal that they must pay him a portion of what he stands to earn in the final year of his deal to cover for the loss of wages if he leaves the Emirates Stadium.

Flamini made 32 appearances in all competitions for Arsenal last season but hasn't started a Premier League game since December 2014.....
