Arsene Wenger will reportedly pay around £13million to try and lure Zenit Saint Petersburg defender Ezequiel Garay to Arsenal.

The Gunners boss is on the verge of completing a deal to sign Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech for around £11million, but it appears he is already looking to secure the next new arrival as he tries to build a squad capable of challenging for the Premier League title.

And 28-year-old Argentinian stopper Garay, who has been heavily linked with a switch to Manchester United in recent transfer windows, is believed to be the latest top target.

Garay only moved to Zenit from Benfica 12 months ago in a 15 million euros deal, but reports claim he is unsettled in Russia and would like a move away this summer.

He is currently playing for Argentina in the Copa America in Chile, but it is believed Wenger will test the water with a bid which would see Zenit make a small profit on the player if they agree to a sale.
