ARSENE WENGER has hit back at Arsenal great Thierry Henry by insisting: You were WRONG to attack my team.

And the Arsenal boss aims to make the ex-Gunners hero eat his words after revealing he has scrapped plans to rip up his squad this summer.

TV pundit Henry says has old club must sign four new players to mount a Premier League title challenge.

The all-time Gunners record scorer tore into 18-goal Olivier Giroud, claiming the striker will not fire the north Londoners to glory.

Arsenal's record £42.4m signing Mesut Ozil - another star of Arsenal's recent revival - did not escape either.

But Wenger said: "He's wrong. I can accept that's an opinion but the comment on Giroud was a bit more wrong.

"Especially because I heard the same thing being said about Nicolas Anelka, about Thierry Henry himself and about Robin Van Persie.

"And they all became world class players themselves. Giroud works very hard for the team and has a fantastic mentality.

"If the team does well it is down to him, and if on top of that he scores 20 or more goals, he has done his job.

"I believes as that some players who were questioned, like Ozil, have made big improvements in the second part of the season."

Wenger says he does not need splash the cash to turn Arsenal into serious title contenders.

The in-form Gunners have won 17 of their 20 games in all competitions this year.

Asked if the upturn in 2015 had changed his thinking, Wenger added: "Massive changes. I think we have improved a lot this season.

"We are not in the need of absolute change. Our defensive record since January is outstanding.

"We have a strong squad and we have some strong young players behind.

"We are not close to signing anybody, we have a very big squad, so we need to lose some players as well."
