Arsene Wenger believes Arsenal can challenge for silverware next season if they manage to keep the entire squad fit.

Wenger has already completed his first piece of business this summer after swooping for Chelsea stopper Petr Cech in a deal worth £10million.

The Frenchman concedes that he may have to dip back in to the transfer market to strengthen further but hopes to use the squad he already has at the Emirates.

The Gunners were missing several key players including Theo Walcott, Jack Wilshere and Olivier Giroud for periods of last term, something Wenger is keen to avoid this time round. Wenger said:

"The best way to strengthen other areas of the team is to get the players who did not play a lot last year and keep them fit.

"Walcott basically did not play until the end of the season, Wilshere has not played many games.

Those two were very convincing at the end of the season so I hope that this season we can benefit from their participation and competitiveness.

"We lost [Mesut] Ozil and [Olivier] Giroud for long periods last year and they contributed a lot in the second part of the season. Let's hope all these players will be fit and available."
