Arsene Wenger has piled praise on midfielder Santi Cazorla to the club’s official website, after seeing him enjoy an impressive 2014/15 campaign.

His performances were especially impressive considering he has spent most of his career as an attacking midfielder, with the move to a deeper role allowing Mesut Ozil in particular to impress further up the field.

And Wenger says Cazorla’s ability to make everyone else around him look good is an outstanding quality to have.

“He had a few games where he was unplayable,” he said.

“I do not look too much at his individual brilliance. He makes the others around him good and that’s an outstanding quality for a midfielder.”

Their form in 2015 saw them become not only the Premier League’s in-form side but one of Europe’s as well, culminating in a third place finish and a second successive FA Cup triumph.

And despite a number of players to choose from as the player who stood out most, Wenger has named Cazorla as his star man.

“Everybody has been great,” he added.

“Santi Cazorla played over 50 games and from the start to the finish he was absolutely top.

“Maybe with the quality and the consistency included from start to finish, it’s Cazorla [who has stood out the most].”...
