A petition started by Arsenal fans in an attempt to ban referee Mike Dean from taking charge of another Gunners game after he sent of both Gabriel and Santi Cazorla at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon has reached 50,000 signatures.

Arsene Wenger's side suffered a 2-0 defeat to Chelsea but it was the official, rather than the players, who has had to bear the brunt of the fans' fury in the wake of the result.

Supporters were angered that Gabriel was dismissed for aiming a petulant kick at Blues striker Diego Costa, who escaped a red card, despite appearing to strike Laurent Koscielny in the face twice.

Cazorla picked up two yellow cards and was given his marching orders late on, which paved the way for Eden Hazard's deflected effort to seal a vital victory for Jose Mourinho's men.

Wenger refused to defend Gabriel's actions but did ask the FA to investigate Costa's behaviour, claiming that the Spaniard deserved to be dismissed for constant provocation, and the Emirates faithful have now taken matters into their own hands.
