Four Arsenal stars who could fill in after injury crisis on right

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott were injured in the Capital One Cup tie against Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday night, and they looks set to join Aaron Ramsey on the sidelines.

Here are four men who could fill in on the right flank.

Joel Campbell

Perhaps the likeliest candidate to step into the vacant spot on the right, Campbell has done a job there for Arsenal before. The Costa Rica international has been a bit-part player for the Gunners in the past but this could be his big chance to make an impact and impress Arsene Wenger. His performance against Sheffield Wednesday was not up to scratch, but a run of games in the first team could give him the confidence to find his best form at the Emirates Stadium.

Santi Cazorla

In his first two seasons at Arsenal Cazorla operated primarily as a number-ten and often drifted on to either flank. He is now more regularly deployed in a deeper role, but could be pushed forward as Wenger looks to fill the void on the right. Cazorla is a hugely talented playmaker, and while his absence in the middle would not be ideal, a more attacking role would allow him to weave his magic more often in the final third.

Hector Bellerin

Bellerin is quickly becoming a fan favourite at Arsenal after taking the starting right-back job from Mathieu Debuchy last season. The pacy Spaniard is already an excellent attacking full-back, and with no out-and-out winger currently available he could be used temporarily on the wing. The much-maligned Debuchy would slot in at right-back, and playing behind the defensively-sound Bellerin could be the perfect way to restore the Frenchman’s fragile confidence.

Alex Iwobi

Iwobi has been banging in the goals for Arsenal’s under-21 side this season in a centre-forward role, but he originally made his name in the youth ranks as a winger. The Nigerian struggled against Sheffield Wednesday but he put in an exciting performance on the left flank in the Emirates Cup and would benefit from playing with the club’s big-name midfielders.

Iwobi has plenty of potential and his natural pace makes him a good fit alongside Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez.
