Alexis Sanchez injury not as serious as first feared as Arsenal receive major boost

The Chile international striker limped off in the second half of the 1-1 draw with Norwich on Sunday.

And there were fears he would be out for up to six weeks. But a scan seen by the medical staff yesterday shows that the hamstring problem is not as severe as first thought.

The Gunners are hopeful he will be fit for the clash of title contenders against Manchester City at the Emirates on December 21.

There was also encouraging news concerning England star Theo Walcott.

He has been out through injury since late October when he was forced off during the 3-0 Capital One Cup defeat at Sheffield Wednesday.

His rehabilitation has gone according to plan and he may even be ready for a place among the substitutes for the match against Sunderland on Saturday.

And he will certainly be ready to play in the crucial Champions League group clash in Athens against Olympiacos next week. Arsenal must win by two goals or be victorious by one goal with a scoreline of 3-2 or higher to make the knockout stages.
