Arsenal reject Chelsea transfer plan

The Chelsea boss has been battling to stop long-serving keeper Petr Cech leaving Stamford Bridge to cross London for the Emirates.

He is determined not to let Cech join his title rivals without a fight and is keen on the Gunners' midfielder. However, Mourinho's opposite number Arsene Wenger is adamant that Oxlade-Chamberlain is going nowhere and has slammed the door on a player-plus-cash deal. Mourinho warned last month:

“Every club that is interested in Petr, I can find a player that I like in that team too.” But Oxlade-Chamberlain, 21, is central to Arsenal’s plans and they are refusing to entertain any notion of him leaving.

The Gunners remain hopeful of a straight £10m cash deal for Cech but, while Chelsea are ready to respect the wishes of one of their modern-day legends, Mourinho has made it clear publicly that he does not want to sell him to a direct rival.

Cech, 33, is keen to move to Arsenal, which would allow him to extend his 11-year stay in London, and Wenger has made him his top transfer priority....
